Upcoming Changes to Bexley Rugby Juniors season 2025/26

We have some changes coming to Bexley Rugby Club that we would like to make you aware of prior to starting next season. Below are the outline headings of the changes, so we would advise you to read them, but you can pick and choose as you wish. Sorry for the lengthy article!
Re-registration Day
To make things a little less chaotic on the first day we have made the decision to do a re-registration day. This will take place on Sunday 31st August 2025 from 09:30am until midday at the training field, however you do not have to stay for the whole time unless you wish too! This day will consist of setting you back up for the season, completing membership, clothing pop-up shop and a fun day for the children. Training will begin on 7th September 2025. But we would strongly ask if you could please attend the registration day if possible.
The app has now been set up for the new season. You can from today login to the app and it will take you through the pre-check service for both your account and your children’s details. This will speed up the process of registration on the day. If you do complete the pre-check before the 31st, please come and see us on the day to confirm that we are not missing anything from you. Trust us, this is going to save everyone a lot of chasing and calling time in forthcoming weeks :)

Please note that membership will be taking payments via cash and BACS transfers only. Clothing can take card payments as well.
Membership Price Increase
We always try to keep our charges as low as we can, however due to the increased costs of clothing, kit and equipment, we have had to make the difficult decision to increase our memberships for this season across all age groups.

Membership can be taken on registration day and payments accepted are BACS transfer and/or Cash.
If you have any concerns regarding payments, please come and speak to us and we can come to an arrangement.
Our 4 week free trial is still applicable to new members at the club.
Training Start Times
Due to some staffing changes, we have made the difficult decision to change the starting times for selected age groups (see below). This is to ensure that we have sufficient cover across the groups to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for our players, and that we comply with RFU regulations.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused as we understand some families may have children in different age groups, we have tried our hardest to minimise any impact.
Whatsapp communication changes
Our goal is to make communication easier and more helpful for everyone at Bexley Rugby. So we are improving our current WhatsApp by setting up a WhatsApp community group with separate chats for each age group, so everyone can get the info that’s most relevant to them. Each head coach will manage their own group, making sure to share updates about upcoming events, activities, and sessions. Plus, there will be a special events tab, an announcements tab, and a general chat area where everyone can join in, share news, and stay connected. This way, everyone stays informed and it’s simple for you to keep up with what’s going on!
On the 15th of August, we will be transferring the existing WhatsApp group into the new community area. This will be renamed as the general chat and you will automatically be added to the new events group. Note you will receive a notification that you've been added to the new groups. We ask, then could you please request access to the age groups you wish to join. All groups within the community area excluding announcements and events group are requests to join, this is an additional protection for safeguarding.
Also, moving forward, any photos/videos that are shared within any chats will not automatically download to your device. You can choose to download them separately. We have done this to allow you to have maximum storage on your device and not having images that are not relevant to you on your device. It also has been put in place to help with safeguarding and child protection for Bexley Rugby.

RFU GMS Registration
Within grassroots rugby, the Rugby Football Union, RFU, requires all players to be registered. This is for both insurance and player / club statistics and the ability for players to play in official matches and festivals for the club.
A couple of weeks ago David sent out a message asking for you to sign up to GMS. If you haven’t done so already please could we ask that you please sign up and register your children.

Season Schedule
We have updated the scheduler on the app for this year’s upcoming events, festival and training sessions. If you have any questions about upcoming events, then please come and speak to us. Upcoming special events will also be promoted on the new whatsapp community group under Social Events.
Headcase (Concussion Awareness)
The RFU has a useful on-line information course (30 mins) that explains about concussion which you may find interesting as it will explain what to look out for. It also explains how we will treat players if concussion has been diagnosed and manage their return to rugby.
