Walking Rugby expands to cover Friday mornings and Tuesday evenings (Watch our video!)
Walking Rugby at Bexley RFC continues to grow and prosper welcoming new players at both our Tuesday evening (19.30hrs) and Friday morning (10.30hrs) sessions.
During the past year we have in partnership with Age UK Bexley promoted Walking Rugby across the borough, with taster sessions on Friday mornings at; Sidcup Working Men’s Club, Sidcup Place, Emmanuel Church Hall Hadlow road, Rose Bruford College and currently in Danson Park.
Supporting the ongoing development of Walking Rugby within the local community, our FREE Friday walking rugby group will provides an ideal offer to men and women aged 60 and over the chance to stay active and socially connected while enjoying a slower-paced version of the game they love. We are of course fully inclusive and welcome younger participants who wish to get involve.
Walking rugby is a low-impact, non-contact adaptation of the traditional game, making it ideal for beginners and those returning to the sport after time away. Players must walk at all times, with simple rules such as backward or lateral passing and turnovers when the ball hits the ground. The game is typically played on a smaller pitch and uses two-handed touch tackles, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all.
The Friday group aims to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where participants can improve their fitness, rekindle their love of rugby, and build new friendships. Sessions take place on the park opposite the Manor House Cafe every Friday. Anyone interested in joining is warmly invited to attend.
