As we start the new season (2025/26), as club Chair, I would like to wish all four sections of our club, a successful season. I am looking forward to further developing our community ties and visibility within the local area to show what a great club we are.
I know that our men’s team have a core of dedicated individuals that are looking forward to playing with their usual flair and passion. We need to support them by building on our numbers to support them to develop the side further.
Our women had a great season last year, and I wish them well in continuing their progress towards establishing themselves as a team to be reckoned with in Kent.
Our mini/junior section has started the season in earnest with new players joining up, and many of our players from last year coming back. I look forward to the section growing as it is the lifeblood of our clubs’ future. As the teams grow, we still need more coaches so if you have sometime on a Sunday, please reach out.
Lastly, our Walking rugby section has continued to grow and established itself into a thriving group of talented individuals. As part of our community ties, Kevin is tirelessly working to increase participation and support our local area.
As the season moves forward, I believe the club should continue to promote and abide by rugby’s core values of Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship; to do so will benefit us all.
And finally, as a club we should have shared goals and aims to ensure we move forward towards being a great club:
• Work to increase player numbers in all sections of the club and improve player retention.
• Continue to improve communication and effective use of social media.
• Raise profile of club and engage in the community.
• To improve how we work together as a club across all groups to the benefit of us all.
I look forward to a great season and wish everyone within the club good luck for the season 2025/26!!
