Walking Rugby is a non-contact version of the game aimed at players of all gender, of differing rugby playing experience and physical ability. It aims to be less prescriptive with a manner of play that maintains safety and fun, whilst providing physical and mental wellbeing.
Whether you are an older rugby player who has hung up their boots, an injured player in recovery, someone new to rugby altogether; come and discover the camaraderie, fun and social benefits of our fastest growing version of this brilliant game. Whatever your ability you are all very welcome.
The object of Walking Rugby is for two teams of up to seven players to score tries by passing the ball backwards or laterally and carrying the ball over the opposition’s try-line, according to the guidelines of the game, its sporting spirit and fair play. Games are of short duration, so plenty of time for a breather.
We have no intention of taking this game too seriously; we promote a social attitude of participation for fellowship and fun (TREDS). Our training and matches are planned to give everyone an opportunity to take part.
Walking rugby is a totally inclusive game.
Basic skills required: able to throw, catch, and enjoy walking and willing to have a bit of fun.
NB: For those participating in Bexley age UK Functional Fitness (MOT) Project, Walking Rugby is a useful way of improving fitness and mental wellbeing.
Come join us at Bexley Walking Rugby;
Why not come along and give it a go.
