Wow! Christmas is here once again, and it has been another good year for Rugby here at Bexley Rugby Club.
See my Christmas message to all club members..............
I can just hear a great many of you saying, a good year! Has it? Well, I believe it has! All four sections of the club have had varying degrees of success, and I don’t just measure success on winning all the time, but how rugby grows and develops through the club and its members.
The creation of the Walking Rugby section has proven to be a popular addition to the club, open to everybody. There have been some great matches against other clubs, but most of all, they have been friendly, enjoyable and inclusive, something our club prides itself on.
And yes, the men’s section has had challenges with numbers throughout the season, but when the team (be it a full 15 or a reduced number) play, they do so with determination and flair. There have been some excellent matches and some great feedback from the other teams on the quality of our play. Every match has shown the pride the players have and should be congratulated by the club members.
The Women’s team have gone from strength to strength, having some really good results against some strong opposition teams, they have seen player numbers grow and this has shown the popularity the club has, and how new members are welcomed to the fold by the team. A credit to a great supportive team.
Last but certainly not least, the mini/juniors numbers continue to grow, and we see some excellent improvement in player’s skills. This season has also benefited from progression of ages as we see players moving up the age groups by staying at the club each season. This has helped us to have some wonderful success at earlier festivals against strong opposition, and this was enhanced as our players continue to exhibit the RFU Core Values in all they do.
It is so important to thank our club supporters and volunteers for their commitment in 2024, and hope this continues into 2025; I wish to thank you all for what you do to support the club; please remeber, we are always looking for more help in coaching and running the club.
As we move into 2025, let all the great things above continue as we move forward as a club, remember all sections are just as important as each other, and we should value this through continuing to work together.
Finally, let me wish you all Seasons’ Greetings for you and your families, and hope you have a great 2025.
Happy Christmas
